About the opportunity
Formed in 1856, Sydney Medical School is the oldest medical school in Australia. It accommodates around 1200 medical students undertaking a four-year graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine program, in addition to postgraduate coursework students undertaking a wide range of master’s degree, graduate diploma, and graduate certificate courses. In addition to teaching and research facilities on the primary Camperdown and Westmead campuses, Sydney Medical School is comprised of six metropolitan clinical schools and three rural clinical schools where students undertake most of the program. The job focus relates to a 12-month Department of Health and Aged Care funded project to enhance equity in cervical screening for people with disability, and involves working in close collaboration with the Centre of Disability Studies.
The Program / Project Officer works under general supervision, performing tasks as directed and in accordance with defined responsibilities. They make choices between established methods of work and plan and prioritise their work to ensure deadlines are met. They will resolve routine matters related to responsibilities and help resolve more complex matters.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
1. Provide administrative support to one or more projects by documenting and updating tasks and assisting with the production and control of project materials and reports.
2. Maintain and manage project data using the record management system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
3. Identify and implement administrative improvements to automate processes and proactively report project issues to management.
4. Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external project stakeholders.
5. Implement effective and transparent communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed.
6. Provide financial administrative support through preparation of financial reports, monitoring and processing of expenditure, and coordination of funding applications.
7. Undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
An Honours or equivalent in a relevant field.
Experience in working with priority populations.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research-related tasks independently or with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to generate reproducible, high-quality research results.
Demonstrated ability to use the latest technology in research projects.
