About the Opportunity
We are seeking 2x experienced Research Capacity Officers to join the School of Education in a part-time (0.5 FTE) capacity until 31 December 2025.
The Research Capacity Officer will provide comprehensive support for the research activities of academic staff, playing a key role in ensuring high-quality, impactful research outcomes. This includes identifying and scoping funding opportunities, preparing content for grant applications and requests for tenders, and organising and managing the School’s research repository.
The Research Capacity Officer also supports various research processes, including conducting preliminary literature reviews, assisting with the preparation of ethics applications, and helping with data management and analysis. Furthermore, the Research Capacity Officer will facilitate the preparation of publications and reports, as well as support compliant records archiving, contributing to the efficiency, integrity, and overall success of the School’s research initiatives.
These are part-time (0.5FTE | 17.5 hours per week), fixed-term positions until 31 December 2025. One position will be based at Western’s Penrith (Kingswood) and the other at Bankstown City Campus. Travel between campuses or to other campuses of the University may be required.

Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a research setting, with a detailed understanding of research processes. They will demonstrate the ability to conduct literature searches, prepare research reports, and manage ethics and funding applications, along with excellent relationship and project management skills.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 $55,236 to $59,205 p.a. (comprising Salary of $46,675 to $50,029 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading). Please note the above salary is pro-rata based on 0.5 FTE.
