Job summary
A full time receptionist position has arisen at Calvary Health Centre working between the hours of 8am and 6:30pm, Monday to Friday. Experience of working in general practice is preferred but not essential. Applicants should be computer literate, and must have the ability to use own initiative and prioritise the essential work.
Flexibility to cover holidays and sickness as and when required is a must .
The post is a permanent postition, subject to satisfactoy references and required employment checks approriate to the post and a successful 6 month probation period
Main duties of the job
Duties include but aren't limited to:-
Receive ,assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous ,efficient and effective way .
Provide general reception and administrative duties as part of a team team.
Provide a helpful and friendly service to patients.
Answer the telephone promptly ensuring that all in coming lines are covered at all times.

Job responsibilities
Making appointments for general surgeries and clinic over the telephone and at reception desk by use of computerised appointment system.
Greeting patients.
Dealing with queries or signposting to the relevant member of staff, Doctor, District Nurse, Practice Nurse etc. Dealing with internal and external phone queries.
Scanning and coding .
Accepting, issuing and ensuring that repeat prescription's are signed and ready for collection within the specified time frame.
Use own judgement and effective communication skills.
Assisting clinical staff with clerical work.
Booking appointments for patients with long term conditions.
Action tasks on a daily basis .
Knowledge of coding and summarising advantageous.
Knowledge of how to perform referrals advantageous
