Registered Nurse-General Surgery & Gastroenterology
An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our current service within General Surgery & Gastroenterology at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital. We are looking for a Band 5 nurse to join our team to support acutely unwell surgical patients. We specialise in surgical and orthopaedic care therefore some basic knowledge is recommended, however, not essential.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide clinical and professional skills and work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team.
2. You will care for a variety of surgical and orthopaedic patients and will be expected to carry out nurse-led assessments of your patients and recognise a deteriorating patient.
3. Acuity can change hourly, so it is important you are able to prioritise your workload effectively to keep yourselves and the patients safe.
4. You will also be required to assist your patients in getting ready for theatre if they are required to have surgery and care for them prior to their operation.
5. You will be required to facilitate safe discharges if required and plan appropriate admissions to hospital.
