Trinity College is the largest and one of the most renowned of the Colleges of Cambridge University, with approximately 1,070 students and 190 Fellows who are supported by over 350 staff. The Catering Department provides the food and drink service for the senior and junior members of the College and for staff together with College and special functions. The Department consists of approximately 80 staff which includes Kitchen, Hall, High Table, Bar and Office staff.
Due to the retirement of the previous postholder, we wish to appoint a Hall and Functions Manager. Supporting the Front of House Services Manager and working closely with the senior management team, the postholder will provide day to day management of the running of the Front of House teams, including Functions and Servery, in the delivery of catering services for students, internal and external private dining and large College functions. As part of the senior management team the postholder will also act as Duty Manager when required and dependent on shift rotations.
Applicants must have extensive experience in the hospitality industry/food services environment and be able to demonstrate experience of successfully leading, motivating and developing multi-functional teams, be able to co-ordinate and plan staffing requirements and plan and co-ordinate multiple events in collaboration with colleagues.
In addition, applicants should be well presented, must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an eye for high standards and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
This is a permanent full-time role (typically 37.5 hours per week on a shift rota which includes evenings and weekends) with a salary of £35,088 per annum plus a shift allowance of £4,210 (total £39,299) plus a generous benefits package which includes:
