We are looking for motivated individuals to join our ambitious organisation as a Healthcare Support Worker.
You will be responsible for delivering individual patient care. You will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic to help improve both the patient experience and the nursing care. You will be working in an environment that will challenge your organisational skills and enhance your knowledge of various specialties.
This role is offered on a progression scheme where you will undertake the Care Certificate, which approximately takes 6 months to complete, and your pay band will increase.
Main Duties of the Job
Under the delegation and supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, the Health Care Support Worker will work within the out-patient department as part of a team supporting patients, clinicians, and colleagues during outpatient consultations. They will provide the fundamentals of care to patients in the hospital to ensure high standards are maintained in a safe environment, including patient safety, and to make sure that the care experience is positive by treating all patients, family, relatives, and colleagues with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with Trust values and policies.
No duties are to be undertaken by the post holder unless they have received the correct training. All duties must be in accordance with the Band 2 skills matrix.

Job Responsibilities
The Healthcare Support Worker will have the knowledge and skills to provide the fundamental care needs for individual patients under the direction and supervision of the registered practitioner. The following duties can be undertaken in the Band 2 training period, following the GWH standards of care:
1. Caring and communication with kindness and compassion
2. Personal Care including catheter care (if required)
3. Nutrition and Hydration support
4. Pressure Area Care
5. Collect specimens (routine bodily fluids only)
6. Moving and handling
7. Documentation including food & fluid charts and outcome sheets
8. Environmental maintenance
9. Performing care in line with risk assessments and care plans
10. Ensure all clinical rooms are stocked with appropriate clinical forms and patient information sheets
11. Assist with the preparation of medical notes to facilitate the running of clinics
12. Escort to other departments (except theatre)
13. Instigate Emergency procedures
14. Completion of accident/incident forms
15. Promote person-centered values and provide support for patients' wellbeing and fulfilment
16. Achieve the desirable requirements in the training and education section of the person specification within an agreed timeframe
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE A*-D in Maths and English
* Level 1 functional skills in Literacy and Numeracy
* Level 2 QCF Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support
* or Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Health & Social Care
* Care Certificate
Knowledge & Skills
* Understands and is committed to a caring approach to patients and relatives
* Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
* Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
* Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work, policies, and procedures
* Committed to providing high-quality patient care
Experience
* Experience in care/health role
