Summary
The Senior Applications Scientist is responsible for liaising with customers before and after samples arrive, executing assays and experimental work plans for study-based projects, and report writing and review. They will support the Sales team with customer calls to help understand customer needs and ensure customer satisfaction as well as providing technical support and advice to customers, colleagues, and channel partners.
In addition, the Senior Applications Scientist will carry out demos and training courses on Pion instrumentation, for Pion employees and customers.
Essential Functions
1. Liaise with existing and potential customers to define scope of work for consultancy projects including supporting the Sales team to establish consultancy-project requirements, clarify project testing conditions, interpret results and agree next steps.
2. Ensure that sample information is provided and stored.
3. Design and execute all appropriate Analytical Service assays for customer samples, including interpretation of results.
4. Write and check Analytical Services reports in a timely manner.
5. Deliver internal and external training courses for end users, channel partners, and internal customers.
6. Represent the company at meetings with customers, and at conferences as required.
7. Assist in the development and execution of internal chemistry research projects and collaborations as required.
8. Support Software and hardware department for Development projects.
9. Prepare relevant documentation to support Analytical Service operations; SOP, protocols, controlled drugs, admin documentation (e.g., CDA, MSA), etc. Similarly, support audit procedures and qualifications.
10. Assist in maintaining laboratory stock levels.
11. Contribute and oversee the safe operation of Pion Analytical laboratories.
12. Assist in the development of new Analytical Service products. Generate Application Notes and other marketing collateral.
13. Provide technical support and advice in relation to Pharma market and applications to end users, colleagues, and channel partners.
14. Support to implement and establish documentation to uphold the highest possible standards, similar to the GLP standards of accredited labs.

Travel
The position is based in Forest Row and requires up to 25% international travel associated with providing customer training or attending a training course.
Job Requirements
1. Ability to travel up to 25%.
2. Valid driver’s license and passport.
3. Ability to lift 25 kg.
Education and Experience
1. Undergraduate degree in Chemistry (preferably Analytical or Pharmaceutical Chemistry) required.
2. 1 year Experimental Master’s degree is desirable.
3. 3+ years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry.
4. Experience with HPLC and Fiber Optic instrumentation.
5. Knowledge of PhysChem Properties plus/or Dissolution would be advantageous.
6. Previous experience in delivering presentations and training.
