The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is seeking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic veterinarians to join our veterinary team of over 150 vets in the Veterinary Service Animal Health Group (VSAHG).

Requirements & Responsabilities
The main purpose of the Veterinary Inspector is the implementation of policy in respect of the following:-
• Epizootic disease (for example highly pathogenic avian influenza)
• Enzootic disease (for example bovine tuberculosis)
• Animal welfare
• Public health
• Import controls
• International trade
• Zoonotic disease (for example salmonella)
2. The key objectives for the role include delivering programmes and official controls in Northern Ireland which:
• Prevent, detect and eradicate epizootic disease
• Control and eradicate enzootic disease
• Promote, protect and maintain acceptable animal welfare standards
• Protect public health and ensure food safety of animal products (on
behalf of the Food Standards Agency)
• Deliver import controls on animals and animal products
• Facilitate and regulate international trade through export health controls
and certification
• Prevent, detect and control zoonotic disease
