In a nutshell
The role of Surveyor - Quality Assurance is to ensure that Virgin Atlantic Airways maintains its operation to the highest possible airworthiness standards as required by the company, CAA, FAA, EASA, EU-OPS and IOSA. This will be achieved by performing global surveillance and audits over the entire spectrum of the company's (and third-party contracting companies) aircraft engineering and maintenance, flight operations and ground operations activities.
Day to day
* Compliance Management: Ensuring that all regulatory and legal requirements, statutory responsibilities, and directives pertaining to the airline's operations are in compliance. Responsible to the UKCAA for all Safety & Security regulations.
* Audits and Reviews: Carry out oversight activity to identify non-conformities, risks, drive mitigation and assure the airline's Safety & Security.
* Business Support: Identify complexity, inefficiencies and provide guidance to ensure commercial success whilst continuously improving Compliance, Safety & Security performance through ongoing compliance monitoring activities.
* Airworthiness Review Certificates: Carry out reviews and inspections of the fleet in order to maintain the validity of the aircraft's Certificate of Airworthiness and continued safe operation.
* Approvals: Assess, authorise and oversee all VAA's Part 145 Engineers and their certification privileges.
About you
Are you an experienced aviation professional with an auditing background and a broad knowledge of the airworthiness environment? If this sounds like you and you have the below skills and capabilities, then we'd love to hear from you:
* Detailed knowledge of ANO and EASA-OPS aircraft operational requirements.
* Detailed knowledge of UK CAA aircraft maintenance and continuing airworthiness requirements.
* Working knowledge of EASA, FAA & IOSA aviation requirements.
* Working knowledge of UK DfT NASP and US DoHS TSA aviation security requirements.
* The ability to negotiate and communicate clearly with all levels of staff, up to and including Director level at external companies.
* Report writing - Up to Executive Level.
* Licensed or degree level aircraft engineer, commercial pilot or equivalent ground or flight operational experience.
* Experience in a supervisory or management position advantageous.
* Audit experience should include Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Safety Management Systems, Aviation Security or Aircraft Maintenance.
* Lead Auditor qualification advantageous.
