Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual for the post of Patient Safety and Quality Officer to join the Patient Safety Team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust.
The Patient Safety and Quality Officer will be responsible for providing support and lead on the efficient functioning of all aspects of Patient safety and learning from events, including collaboration with the Lead Nurse for Patient Safety and the Patient Safety Team. To work autonomously using own initiative in order to develop and innovate services for the function of patient safety, working closely with colleagues as required in order to deliver key strategic and operational objectives.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Patient Safety Investigation Leads and Patient Safety Team to provide expert resource for the planning, implementation, development, maintenance and review all aspects of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework learning from events process at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Support with aspects of managing incidents on the incident management system, Datix.
The post holder will work autonomously in preparing agendas for meetings, take accurate notes/minutes and manage and maintain the action logs. They will be required to undertake all the administration for organising the meeting, ensuring key stakeholders are at the meeting and juggling diaries to accommodate the slots on the executive panel.
Main Duties of the Job
The Patient Safety Team is a centrally based team, undertakes Patient Safety Incident Investigations and other learning responses (eg: After Action Reviews) in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and in line with the Trust's Patient Safety Incident Response Plan.
The main priorities will include:
* Working autonomously in preparing agendas for meetings, taking notes and action logs. They will be required to undertake all the administration for the meeting.
* Support the efficient functioning of the Patient Safety Team including introducing new systems and processes, where necessary, to improve efficiency, may include the development of relevant administrative policies and procedures.
* Support the Lead Nurse for Patient Safety in the development and delivery of the Patient Safety agenda.
* Effectively communicate information about the patient safety agenda and act as the first point of contact for enquiries and routine correspondence.
* Work across a number of highly sensitive and confidential work streams within the Patient Safety agenda.
* Ensure all information is of a high standard so as to accurately reflect progress and to highlight any issues to Lead Nurse.
* Work as part of a team; provide assistance and support to colleagues, providing on-the-job guidance/advice to new and temporary staff as necessary.
* Manage tight and often changing deadlines with structured prioritisation.
