This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Older Persons Medicine (OPM) Therapy Team on The Zetland Ward at Redcar Primary Care Hospital. The post holder will be employed as a Senior Physiotherapist working collaboratively with Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Generic Assistants.

It comprises two acute hospitals, James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton and a number of community hospitals including Redcar Primary Care Hospital which has a rehabilitation Unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to have experience in an inpatient rehabilitation setting, including physiotherapy assessment, treatment plans and management of patients, patient flow and facilitating discharges. Additionally, experience working with OPM is required, along with experience of supervising and day-to-day leadership of junior staff.
The Therapy Services is a well-established, large, progressive, and dynamic service, which continues to develop within the wider trust. The team is friendly and supportive, and mentorship for this role will be available from senior clinicians and the AHP Service Leads.
This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills, and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post-graduate courses. We have an established and comprehensive training programme, and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision, and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research as the hospital has close links with the local universities.

Person Specification
Qualifications and training
* To hold a Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy
* To be registered as a Physiotherapist and fit to practice by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Achieved or willing to work towards relevant post-graduate qualification/training
Personal attributes
* Access to a vehicle for work purposes and a full UK driving license, to meet the requirements of the role
Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of frailty, frailty syndromes and how the aging process affects the body
* Broad knowledge of services referred to locally from hospital
* Demonstrate effective communication skills, communicating complex, sensitive and contentious information to patients, carers and colleagues
* Demonstrate analytical skills and judgment when dealing with the physiotherapy management of complex patients
* Ability to work with indirect supervision in a variety of acute care and/or community settings
* Ability to act appropriately in emotional or distressing circumstances
* Ability to cope under pressure
* Demonstrate effective problem solving skills in complex situations
Experience
* Post-graduate experience as a rotational junior in a broad range of clinical specialities
* NHS experience
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
* Information technology literate
* Experience of supervision and day-to-day leadership of junior staff
* Previous experience working within an inpatient rehab setting
* Previous experience working in OPM

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum (pro rata)
