The HCA will be expected to perform renal-specific competences relating to haemodialysis skills. You will be trained in these abilities and will need some renal specialised knowledge to provide excellent care to the haemodialysis patients.
* Preparation of equipment for haemodialysis.
* Pre & post HD weighing of patients including calculation of wheelchair weight.
* Assisting patients with manual handling- transfer using hoist/ Banana board or SARA Steady.
* Using therapy monitor.
* Lining & priming of HD machines.
* Disconnecting patients from HD (patients with fistula as vascular access).
* Cleaning/ Disinfecting of HD machines.
* Appropriate segregation & disposal of waste.
* HD materials stocking levels and ordering.
* Using online Transport booking system (SCAS).
* Efficient in using renal IT system- CV5.
* Escalating concerns to the registered nurse in a timely and appropriate manner.

* Providing individualised care for a diverse group of patients.
* Alerting the Registered Practitioner to any change or concern relating to the welfare of the patient.
* Undertaking specific clinical skills relevant to clinical area following training.
* Providing enhanced levels of care to patients requiring additional supervision.
* Providing supervision and guidance to junior staff.

Education/Qualification and Training
* Completed Care Certificate
* Successful completion of Trust’s Band 2 Developmental Passport or equivalent
* QCF level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care
* T Level in Health
Experience
* Experience as a Health Care Assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting.
* Previous experience of working within relevant specialty.
