Closing Date: Monday 13 th January 2025 at 10AM | Based in FNQ About the Role Join a progressive Regional Council in Far North Queensland, reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of road infrastructure and civil works projects—essential to the community's core services. You'll manage a diverse team, including a skilled technical officer, roads supervisor, and their subordinates, ensuring efficient operations and fostering a supportive team culture. Services under responsibilities of this role are key council services including airport, water, wastewater and Parks and Gardens. This role is ideal for someone with extensive roads experience, preferably with an engineering or project management background. Key responsibilities include managing the works team and leading by example, overseeing the delivery of road infrastructure projects and maintenance, and collaborating with other executives and the Chief Executive Officer as part of the leadership team. Position Responsibilities Include: Lead and manage the Works Services Department, ensuring the effective delivery of roadworks (Shire and State-controlled), disaster recovery projects and town infrastructure services. Oversee maintenance and operation of essential services, including water, wastewater, waste management, and the Croydon Airport. Supervise and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and high performance. Ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements for all managed areas. Provide timely updates and reports to the CEO, ensuring alignment with council’s strategic goals. Manage budgets, resources and contractors effectively to meet project deadlines and quality standards. About You You’re an experienced professional with a passion for roads and infrastructure. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have the ability to tackle challenges head-on while fostering a positive team culture.
