BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. You'll be joining our BAS Estates team, specifically the Digital Estates team, who work closely with our engineers and subject matter experts to ensure we are able to keep our estates maintained and operational 24/7. We work closely with the wider Estates team to ensure that any digital capability we implement will work for them and make their jobs easier. You'll help us to deliver on our Digital Estates Strategy, which includes our recently developed bespoke delivery requirements of our asset data, and the creation of a BAS-developed GIS platform to hold, store and validate our 3D information alongside model data, 2D drawings and all other relevant information, which will likely include sustainability and net zero data. There is a key element of input required into automated model and data validation tools working directly with our in-house GIS developers to achieve this alongside the Estates BIM Lead. Within the role, there will be an opportunity to develop BIM, construction and project management knowledge, as well as learning how our CAFM system, Maximo, works. We are able to provide training both in-house and also any external training required. We're committed to ensuring our staff are continually developing in the areas they would find most beneficial. Current projects the team are working on include the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme projects which are designing, building and redeveloping our Polar Estate. Some of your main responsibilities will include: • Act as the main point of contact for ongoing support and coaching in information management and BIM for BAS Estates internally, the AIMP and the supply chain - this could be advice and support for the supply chain with checking their BIM workflows, model authoring tool setup (Revit, Civils 3D) etc. • Validation of all incoming 3D models to the CDE, which may include distribution to technical design reviewers and use of validation dashboards before being transferred to the GIS platform. For the role of Digital Construction BIM Coordinator, we are looking for somebody who has: • Excellent understanding of industry standards such as ISO 19650 (and the now-superseded BS/PAS 1192). • Competent experience with various Common Data Environments (example systems: GliderBIM, Asite, Viewpoint for Projects, Aconex etc) and Document Management Systems (such as Sharepoint) along with the Microsoft 365 suite of tools, specifically Excel, Word and Teams. • A keen eye for detail, even if working under tight deadlines or multi-tasking multiple information exchanges.
