The Role:
Due to business growth, we are seeking an experienced Lead Electronics Engineer to join our growing team with a focus on power supply design and development projects. This role offers a unique combination of design, lab-based testing, customer engagement and contributing to groundbreaking R&D programs for aerospace and defence sectors.
As Lead Electronics Engineer you will have responsibility for new product development and leading a talented team to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions. Your work will directly impact the success of high-stake projects and your expertise will guide design processes, from concept through to final testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design of new power supply distribution systems that meet strict regulatory and safety standards
Interact with customers to understand requirements, present solutions and manage project expectation
Optimise designs for efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness while meeting power and performance requirements
Support Engineers to carry out tasks including; power supply design, schematic capture, PCB layout, control board design, BOM component selection
Support lab-based work including prototype build, test, validation and simulation and prepare comprehensive technical documentation
Drive R&D initiatives ensuring continuous improvement and integration of the latest advancements in technology
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical and systems engineering, to develop fully integrated solutions
Required Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
Minimum of 5 years' experience in power electronics design, with a focus on power supply design and control including switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)
Demonstrated experience with power distribution systems and AC/DC drive design for high-demand environments (aerospace, defence, or similar)
Familiarity with aerospace or defence regulatory standards, such as DO-160 or MIL-STD-810
Proficient in circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSpice, LTspice) and design software (e.g., Altium, OrCAD)
Strong communication skills for direct customer engagement and relationship management
Previous experience within the aerospace, defence or related high-reliability industry
