The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah RACE Centre & Library, based in Manchester Central Library, fulfils its remit under the auspices of an agreement between The University of Manchester Library, the AIU Education Trust and Manchester City Council. The three organisations have an agreed collective vision for the Centre alongside which each party has their own more specific goals and expectations associated with their areas of organisational interest. Whilst the Head of Centre is primarily appointed by the University of Manchester to manage the Centre Library, the postholder is also seconded for some of their time (currently 0.4 FTE) on a pro bono basis to support the Education Trust specific activity of the Centre. We are looking to appoint a suitably-qualified/experienced individual to lead on the strategic and operational plans for the AIU RACE Centre & Library, to ensure that they are developed and delivered in line with the strategic objectives of The University of Manchester Library, and of the goals and objectives of the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Education Trust and Manchester City Council. Amongst other things, the Head of the AIU RACE Centre will manage staff, resources and associated budget(s) in line with the agreed priorities oversee the delivery of high-quality service from the Centre & Library lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the community-led collecting and engagement programmes with Black, Asian and Global Majority communities contribute leadership and expertise in relation to EDI, decolonisation, community engagement and anti-racist approaches to research, teaching and learning As a first element of the shortlisting process, we will assess candidate’s applications against the person specification in the job description.
