- Please note Labman do not offer sponsorships/ visas of any length Labman Automation, based in North Yorkshire, designs and builds custom robotic automation systems for laboratory, medical, and industrial industries worldwide. We pride ourselves on strong customer relationships and solving technological challenges to enable science without limits. Our culture values engineering excellence through discipline, supportive leadership, sustainable partnerships, and openness, driven by kindness, humor, and enthusiasm. Labman is truly a dynamic and unique workplace. Graduate Project Leaders take ownership of technical work, managing projects or teams. A background in electrical/electronic, software, or mechanical engineering is essential. Graduates gain hands-on experience across all business areas and contribute to research, design, planning, testing, implementation, and project control. Graduates are involved in projects from start to finish, managing their own projects early on with mentoring from a Project Manager while working independently. They will collaborate as part of project teams, with increasing responsibilities as they progress. Engineering disciplines Mechanical Engineering Mechanical design and manufacturing are central to Labman's projects. Using SolidWorks, mechanical engineers design and simulate solutions from project inception, incorporating components like bearings, transmissions, vibration isolation, fixings, and pneumatics. Hands-on design and prototyping are encouraged to quickly develop ideas, supported by a wide range of in-house components for prototyping. Graduate mechanical engineers will gain proficiency in 3D design, simulation, and CADCAM for manufacturing components on CNC millers, routers, and lathes. Knowledge of engineering metals and plastics will enhance design efficiency and effectiveness. Electrical/Electronic Engineering Labman systems comply with EU and ISO standards, and graduates are expected to learn relevant directives and regulations.Labman designs and develops microcontroller PCBs for applications like data acquisition, motion, and process control, using ARM architecture. Graduates will gain familiarity with these technologies.Graduates should also learn to work with commercially available sensors, controllers, transducers, drives, and peripherals, understanding their appropriate use.Electronics-focused graduates will support and enhance the electronics team, improving Labman's toolkit while maintaining and updating best practices in line with industry standards. Software Engineering Labman develops software primarily in C# using object-oriented programming and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) for user interfaces. Graduates are expected to learn and work with these technologies. We continuously explore new technologies to enhance development efficiency and improve user experience. Graduates should stay updated on industry advancements. Graduates will support the software team, improving existing technologies while ensuring systems are efficient, maintainable, and user-friendly. Open and collaborative work practices are essential.
