We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to join our team. You will have a passion to improve patient care and outcomes; you will possess the skills to provide specialist clinical advice support to patients, staff, and will liaise with other healthcare professionals as required.
We are looking for an experienced individual who has previously worked at a senior level to provide operational and clinical leadership whilst supporting the infection prevention programme.
Main duties of the job
You will have the confidence to fulfil an active role in teaching and education of staff, carers, and patients in the prevention and control of healthcare acquired infections.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* RN/Current NMC registration
* Degree or equivalent level of education or experience
* Certificate or diploma in Infection Prevention & Control
* Supporting Learning in Clinical Practice (SLIP) or equivalent
* Evidence of further study/knowledge at master's level or equivalent in a health-related subject
Experience
* Relevant experience working in an Infection Prevention and Control team at Band 6 or above.
* Experience of assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and demonstrating knowledge of infection prevention and control evidence-based care.
* Experience of working in an MDT and across organisational and professional boundaries.
* Experience and knowledge of the management of outbreaks.
* Experience of leading and managing change.
* Experience of project management.
* Experience of leading in policy development.
* Experience of leading clinical audit/research and using outcome measures.
* Experience of leading innovative practice.
Skills
* Advocate for patients with a passion for improving the patient experience.
* An up-to-date understanding of the current issues relating to health care associated infections and strategies for their prevention.
* Be able to record, interpret action and disseminate microbiological reports accurately and in line with the Data Protection Act.
* Ability to assess and assimilate information and adopt a problem-solving approach in order to achieve change.
* Ability to work independently and in a small team and with a range of staff across the organisation.
* Ability to assess risks associated with occupational exposure (i.e. sharps injuries) and provides specialist guidance and signposting to treatment and support in line with Trust protocols.
* Report writing / Presentation skills. Computer literate - Be able to accurately input and extract data from NHS computer systems e.g. ICNet; ability to use Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of current guidance and legislation relating to infection prevention and control.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Knowledge of microbiological risk assessments, interpreting data, infection prevention current evidence.
Other Requirements
* Flexible and adaptable to change.
* Car driver with full driving licence.
