Here at Dr Kershaws Hospice, we have1 trained Nurse (RGN) caring for 6 palliative/end of life patients. With shortshifts or long days, regular breaks, free parking on site and a modern, stateof the art in-patient unit, we provide a good work life balance to all ourstaff, including wellbeing activities and support.
The wellbeing of our staff is key atthe Hospice and we provide, a food bank, subsidised meals, counsellor andcomplementary therapy as well as hold regular Nurse Forums and team socialactivities, across the Hospice.
We are expanding our nursing team andhave both day and night shifts available with full and part time positionsconsidered. Day shift hours include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.Night shift hours include bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
If you are a team player with a strong can do work ethic and have 12 months UK post registration work experience and ideally have worked previously within a care setting plus you can work flexibly across all hospice services and have a full UK (manual) driving licence we are looking for you!
If you have the ability to:
Provide a consistently high standard of palliative nursing care keeping up the reputation of the Hospice
Sensitively, care for patients and their families, respecting the privacy and dignity of the patient and their families at all times
Plan, implement and evaluate patient care to formulate a comprehensive plan of care
Communicate well both verbally with your patient and their family / loved ones and also have the ability to document clear and concise notes

MainPurpose of the Job
To work in close co-operation with allhospice staff under the direction of the Nurse-in-charge responsible for theplanning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in both the Hospice andthe community Hospice at Home service. To act as mentor to student nurses andprofessional visitors on placement at the Hospice. Supervising other staff asappropriate. Assuming responsibility for Nurse-in-Charge during their absence.To uphold and maintain the exemplary reputation of the Hospice.
ClinicalResponsibilities
1.To assess patients and formulate acomprehensive plan of care in liaison with the patients, carers and otherprofessionals.
2. To regularlyreview the plan of care and associated assessments with the patient and othermembers of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
3.To be responsible for the organisation ofpatient care and allocation of duties to staff.
4. To ensure that allcare is delivered to a consistently high standard and that it is recordedaccurately and regularly evaluated.
5. To act as a namednurse and co-ordinator of nursing care for individual patients.
6. To communicate and discuss the needs ofpatients with the multidisciplinary team.

4. To keep up to datewith Health & Safety legislation.
5. To ensure that thehospice Health & Safety and Fire Safety policies are followed.
6. To ensure thenursing staff adhere to the policies and procedures of the hospice and workwithin the NMC Code of Conduct.
7. To ensure thatcontrolled drugs and medications are correctly stored, administered andrecorded in accordance with the hospice policy.
8. To assist in thepromotion of good staff morale giving support and guidance to others asappropriate.
9. Giving andreceiving verbal, written and electronic records and ensuring that allcommunications are of a high standard.
10. Co-operating withthe investigation of accidents and untoward occurrences ensuring the hospicepolicy is adhered to.
11. To act asAssessor, Mentor and Supervisor for nursing staff.
12. To supervise andsupport Volunteer staff and attend regular relevant meetings.
13. To maintain correctclinical and statistical records for the purpose of audit and compile reportsas necessary.
14. Ensure that allstaff are conversant with the use of equipment having regard to the safety ofthe patients and themselves.
15. To observe hospicefire precautions and control procedures.
16. Participate intraining programmes.
17. Guide and instructstaff in the delivery of holistic nursing care enforcing the importance of theteam approach.
