Our client, an Advanced Automotive Engineering Consultancy, is currently engaged in several exciting sports car/motorsport projects and is looking for a talented and experienced Principal Engineer to lead the Analysis team to deliver efficient structural engineering solutions within the Automotive sector. The role is based at their Midlands engineering centre near Coventry.
Principal Engineer Analysis - £60k-£75k p.a. + benefits - Permanent - Coventry
Responsibilities
1. Lead the Analysis team in the CAE models of structural components, typically metallic and composite structures for the automotive, rail, aerospace, and defence sectors within quality guidelines and be a hands-on Leader.
2. Lead idea and problem resolution sessions through day-to-day working and structured Design Reviews.
3. Work closely with Engineering Designers to develop load paths, layout, and optimisation of structures to ensure the lightest and most cost-effective high-performance solutions.
4. Represent the department with both internal and external customers.
5. Leverage commercial opportunities with existing and new customers.
6. Preparation of formal quotations and costings.
7. Project planning and resource planning.
8. Provide training, supervision, direction and mentoring for less experienced analysts.
9. Internal Signatory Authority for analysis, calculations, and reports.
10. Provide accurate status reports on project spend and timing.
11. Liaison with wider company engineers at a project level.
12. Ensure documentation is maintained to satisfy client quality management system and customer-specific requirements.
13. Support and mentor the engineers within your team with your experience and knowledge.
14. Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company.
Essential Skills
1. Engineering or Maths / Physics degree or higher.
2. Min 5 years simulation experience.
3. Experience of hands-on engineering within sheet metal or composites.
4. Experience of leading and managing teams carrying out HR people-based activities (c.10).
5. Expert knowledge of NASTRAN AND / OR LS-Dyna or equivalents.
6. Works under own initiative.
7. Plans work and cascades to team.
8. Can manage multiple tasks.
9. Leads departmental interdependencies & best practice methodologies.
10. Integrates departmental planning with other business units.
11. Leads flexible approach to working.
12. Demonstrates good emotional intelligence, ethics, and professionalism.
13. Coaches staff members.
14. Manages customer interactions.
15. Advanced levels skills in multiple core disciplines.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of ANSA & Meta.
2. Software programming ability.
3. Knowledge of composites design and manufacture.
