VAMP is a multi-disciplinary department responsible for the operational delivery of not only infectious disease testing but also the delivery of genomics testing for both Blood Sciences and Cellular Pathology, therefore the post holder will be required to work closely with the Clinical Leads of all these disciplines to ensure the Department is operationally delivering a clinically appropriate service.
You will be responsible for the oversight, operational running, strategic direction, performance and quality of the service by directing the Section Managers and Leads in those Departments.

As a Network Pathology Department Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for the operational management of all aspects, including financial, organisational and performance, of the routine and specialised services delivered by the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services Network(CWPS) across the Trust sites and primary care.
You will lead in conjunction with other senior staff in the evaluation, implementation and development of existing and new technologies, approved clinical trials and departmental research projects to ensure the continued effectiveness of the service., You will also take ownership of, monitor and control a designated budget or budgets, and be accountable for identifying and delivering any cost improvement plans (CIP) as required to achieve defined financial targets for the CWPS Network.
In conjunction with the Management Team, you will maintain an open, proactive and collaborative culture within Pathology supported by effective two-way communication systems and processes that promote the achievements and activities of the relevant specialities and maintains clinical standards.
Take a lead in the propagation and maintenance of all laboratory aspects of the ISO standards, HSE requirements and any other statutory regulations, and ensure the delivery of services in line with the principles of these standards and requirements throughout CWPS.
Be the expert in the use of the Quality management system, and oversees the effective development and/or management of all controlled documentation, non-conformities and audit reports within the system.
Manage the attendance and performance of all qualified and support staff members and be responsible for ensuring all staff fulfil and maintain their contractual requirements for mandatory training.
Design and work with the Pathology IT team on continuous developments, to ensure the most efficient use of the laboratory information system in the support of effective patient care within all Pathology specialities.
Lead by example to develop and maintain full engagement with all staff demonstrating motivational, presentation and training skills at all times.

Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) have Pathology Laboratories across three Hospital sites: Coventry Hospital, George Eliot Hospital and Warwick Hospital, offering services to 1.8 million patients across the region.
Departments within CWPS include Chemistry and Immunology, Haematology, Microbiology, Virology and Molecular Pathology, Histopathology, Pre-Analytics including Phlebotomy, and Mortuary services. With a dedicated workforce of over 500 staff, CWPS provide a range of tests across many different analysers and equipment, using state-of-the-art technology and specialist techniques.
We having a great opportunity for a Network Pathology Department Manager to join the team and manage the Virology and Molecular Pathology (VAMP) Departments across CWPS. This is a 12-month fixed-term/secondment opportunity.
The VAMP Department has staff across the 2 Hospital sites who perform an array of Serology and Molecular investigations, including antenatal screening as per the Infectious Diseases Screening Programme. The Serology service is based at George Eliot Hospital and we have recently implemented Siemens analysers within Blood Sciences with serological testing now performed on these.
VAMP are also finishing the implementation of the Hologic Panther, Abbott Alinity M and Roche Cobas at University Hospital, Coventry.
