Job Overview
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production equipment. Whether you have a mechanical or electrical bias, or are a multi-skilled engineer, we welcome applicants with strong hands-on experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments.
You will be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across a range of machinery, with a particular focus on pneumatic systems. This is a 4 on 4 off shift role covering both days and nights.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative and Reactive Maintenance: Perform routine checks, inspections, and emergency repairs on machinery to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.
Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance: Carry out maintenance on mechanical components (gears, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics) or electrical systems (motors, wiring, PLCs) based on your expertise.
Pneumatics: Specifically troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic systems, ensuring these key components are functioning optimally.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve machinery performance, reduce costs, and increase reliability.
Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve issues within production machinery, determining underlying causes and implementing long-term solutions.
Collaboration: Work alongside other engineers, production teams, and technical departments to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
Health & Safety: Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with company policies and relevant health and safety regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
Mechanical or Electrical Bias: We are open to candidates with either a mechanical or electrical background. Multi-skilled engineers will be considered at the higher salary bracket.
Experience: Proven experience in hands-on maintenance within an FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial setting, with a strong focus on pneumatic systems.
Engineering Qualification: Recognized qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) such as HND, HNC, City & Guilds, or equivalent.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions for mechanical or electrical breakdowns.
Pneumatics Expertise: Solid experience maintaining and troubleshooting pneumatic systems.
Multi-Skilled Advantage: Candidates with both mechanical and electrical expertise will be considered for the higher end of the salary range (£51,900).
