As an award-winning Yorkshire law firm, our reputation is built upon offering our clients an excellent, tailored service that provides them with clear, pragmatic advice.
Disputes relating to inheritance and succession can make what is already a challenging time for grieving families, even more difficult.
Our leading Contentious Probate team is one of only a few in West Yorkshire. They offer specialist and exclusive advice and representation to national and international clients on all types of inheritance, probate, and wills disputes, with the aim of helping our clients reach successful settlements.
As part of our planned growth and expansion, we are now looking to recruit a Paralegal into the team in our Huddersfield office.
The role
Your responsibilities will be varied: you will handle new client enquiries with professionalism and care, providing essential support to the team on contentious trusts and probate matters, drafting various legal documents and correspondence, including instructions to counsel, letters of claim/response, and witness statements.
Additionally, you will prepare bundles for court hearings and mediations, create new files, and manage regulatory requirements for file opening.
You might also provide advice on costs and funding, including cost estimates, representing clients in meetings with third parties, and preparing materials for client seminars and presentations.
Conducting research on points of evidence, law, procedure, and precedents will be part of your role.
What we’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll be a law graduate with proven experience in contentious trusts and probate work. However, knowledge and familiarity with high-value/complex private client or civil/commercial litigation work would also be relevant and suitable experience.
You should be a collaborative and supportive team member, committed to providing exceptional client service, and proficient in using legal research tools and software (prior experience with a case management system, preferably P4W, would be an advantage).
You must be organised, methodical, and detail-focused, with outstanding communication skills. The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently is essential.
This role is based in our Huddersfield office, but some travel to our Bradford and Leeds offices will be required. It falls within our hybrid working arrangements, which incorporate elements of working from home combined with office-based working.
How to apply
If you have the skills and experiences we are looking for and this sounds like a career opportunity you would like to pursue, then we want to hear from you. Please send your CV and a covering e-mail, including details of your current salary, to our HR Director, Neil Towse at neiltowse@schofieldsweeney.co.uk.
