Senior Family Practitioner
If you have experience of working with children and families and have a passion for supporting them in effecting sustained change, then we would like to hear from you.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Family Practitioner to work in Family Help in the Norwich area. Your office base will be County Hall, Norwich.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner who can manage a complex caseload of Family Support cases, whilst also offering peer support, coaching, mentoring, and role modelling to practitioners and support to the Team Manager.
Our purpose in Family Help is to keep children and young people safe through early intervention to prevent the need for statutory involvement. We do this by working alongside the family, their network, and other professionals to identify and address worries, creating plans that identify the support needed to achieve positive outcomes and empower the family to effect change.
Your role as a Senior Family Practitioner will be varied and challenging, requiring a high level of resilience. It is fast-paced, so you will need to be flexible, use your initiative, and manage your workload while supporting the wider team. A family’s needs and situation can change, so you will need to prioritize, adapt your practice, and remain calm under pressure.
Family Support is a strengths-based service where the child is at the center of our work, and their voice and views are the most important. You will need to identify and understand risk and keep this under review throughout the case.
You will need good IT skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, and databases, and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
If you would like an informal discussion about the position before applying, please contact Julie Layden, Prevention Team Manager via email at julie.layden@norfolk.gov.uk.
Before you apply, we recommend reading the full Job Description and Person Specification to help you demonstrate that you meet the criteria we are looking for.
