Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust is looking to recruit Nursing Assistants to join the Children's Unit. We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring, well-organised person who is self-motivated. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and possess good communication skills. It is essential to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality.
Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.
The Children's Emergency Care Unit is a 14-bedded short stay facility catering for children aged 0-16 years who require emergency assessment and treatment, with a 24-hour inpatient facility if required.
We also provide support to medical staff in clinic and day case settings at North Tyneside General Hospital and Wansbeck General Hospital.
We have a range of shifts available 7 days per week, including day shifts, early shifts, late shifts, twilight, and weekends.
The role is to provide high standards of care to patients accessing our services. You will need to embrace our trust values and demonstrate excellent communication skills, with a flexible approach to your work.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. We are leading in innovation and quality, having opened the state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Do you want to work in one of the best performing NHS organisations in England? Work in an organisation that supports its staff and focuses on staff experience as much as it does on the experience of its patients? You can live and breathe in an area that has the cleanest air, cost-effective living, great nightlife, some of the best schools, and a wealth of history available on your doorstep. This is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare – this is the Northumbria Way! Please read ‘applicant guidance notes’ before submitting your application.
To work as a member of the Children’s Unit, you will carry out basic observations, help with treatments, perform cleaning duties, and support patients and their families. The Children’s Unit Nursing Assistant will work under the supervision and direction of the Children's Nurses based on the Children's Unit.
The main aspects of the service you will be supporting are:
1. When required, provide a welcoming and well-organised service and support medical and nursing colleagues in delivering high-quality care to patients.
2. Communicate with children, their parents, and carers to ensure delivery of child-focused and family-centred care.
3. Support the service with a wide range of administrative duties, including (but not exhaustive) recording clinical information on clinical noting and maintaining and tracking electronic equipment.
4. Undertake basic observations, heights, weights, and other nursing assistant duties.
This advert closes on Friday 27 Dec 2024.
