Job Title: Network Engineer

Remuneration: Up to £55,000 + Competitive package
Contract Details: Permanent, full-time position
Our client, a leading Financial Services organisation, is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Network Engineer to join their Systems Support team. As a Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our client's IT network, ensuring optimal performance, up-to-date security, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and optimise network infrastructure, including virtual networks, cloud infrastructure, and WAN technologies.
2. Support and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
3. Collaborate closely with security and infrastructure engineers to understand and address their requirements.
4. Configure and manage firewalls, routers, load balancers, and switches.
5. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, VLANs, load balancing, and VPNs.
6. Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve network issues.
7. Exhibit proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems.
8. Monitor network performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks.
9. Collaborate with helpdesk staff, providing education and support while resolving network-related tickets.
Desirable Skills:
1. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud services and architectures.
2. Experience with Cisco switches, including configuration, security, and firmware updates.
3. Knowledge of FortiNet firewalls.
4. Experience with Dell servers, including iDrac management.
5. Understanding of Veeam and Zerto data resiliency platforms.
6. Familiarity with Rapid7 for vulnerability management.
7. Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents escalated from 1st and 2nd line support.
8. Interact with vendors for support escalations.
9. Knowledge of ITIL practises.
10. Ability to automate processes through scripting.
11. Plan and test penetration test remediations and communicate significant changes to relevant business area owners.
12. Update self-signed/domain certificates across network services/devices.
