Job Title: Group Fleet Manager
As a Group Fleet Manager, you will provide professional, strategic advice to senior leaders and field management teams to ensure sufficient, appropriate vehicles are made available to field engineers and managers across the business. The Group Fleet Manager will develop and lead the strategic direction of fleet management and liaise with the Head of collections, Procurement, Treatment, and other stakeholders to develop a fleet strategy involving alternative fuels and carbon reduction measures.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week; however, we will consider requests for job shares to suit your lifestyle (working full days).
What will you be doing?
1. Work closely with the Area and Contract Managers to ensure routine audits relating to vehicle documentation, inspection, and servicing are compliant in accordance with the Group's Operator Licence undertakings.
2. Provide valuable support and coaching to individual Transport Managers, Supervisors, and drivers regarding Operator Licence.
3. Introduce, monitor, and manage robust internal and external systems including policies & procedures for auditing purposes based on identified failings or legislative changes.
4. Manage and maintain any external accreditation or standards related to the fleet function (FORS/Earned Recognition/RHA).
5. Oversee Bi-Annual review of all vehicle assets to ensure proper records are kept.
6. Coordinate and conduct Serious Accident investigations, producing reports and providing support regarding subsequent actions to prevent recurrence.
7. Report issues of non-compliance regarding company or legal standards on the internal SHEQ system.
8. Collate monthly reports to the Senior Management Team (SMT), identifying failures and successes relevant to fleet compliance levels.
9. Manage the Vehicle Operator Licence (VOL) system on behalf of the statutory directors.
10. Monitor Plant legal compliance in conjunction with the requirements of LOLER and PUWER.
11. Liaise with the Fleet & Plant support teams regarding non-compliance within the business.
12. Manage all communication with the Office of the Traffic Commissioners (OTC) and Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
13. Oversee compliance on the equipment asset management system and investigate compliance failings.
14. Identify and investigate new opportunities regarding vehicle power sources and work with operational teams.
15. Work with the development team on new tenders to ensure correct vehicle specifications.
16. Maintain workshop cost template and update bi-annually.
17. Review and report on all aspects of vehicle compliance monthly.
18. Work closely with the Head of collections to develop strategies for improved cost efficiency.
19. Ensure that the fleet of vehicles operates in accordance with legislation and regulations at all times.
20. Assist with drafting and implementing effective policies and processes regarding fleet operations.
21. Oversee the management of strict vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime.
22. Monitor driver behaviour and implement disciplinary action where necessary.
23. Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections and services using relevant IT systems.
24. Monitor fleet costs and ensure they remain within budget.
