ABOUT NHU BUSINESS AND LEGAL AFFAIRS TEAM
We are a busy, dynamic and collaborative team who work across the entire slate of NHU programmes. The work we do is very varied and often fast-paced, covering day-to-day production queries including complex matters relating to international shoots and third-party commissions.
THE ROLE
The role is to be based in Bristol and offers a unique and exciting opportunity to provide business affairs advice and support across the BBC Studios Natural History Unit’s varied and award-winning slate. BBC Studios Natural History Unit (NHU) is the best-known and most loved producer of natural history content in the world, responsible for some of the most globally successful factual content of the past 10 years. Our BBC output includes everything from breath-taking landmarks (Frozen Planet II; The Green Planet; Seven Worlds, One Planet; Dynasties II; Blue Planet II; Planet Earth II), to returning series and technically challenging live shows (Springwatch; Blue Planet Live) and award-winning children’s series (Andy’s Safari Adventures). With an increasingly diverse portfolio of content, including Prehistoric Planet - the ground-breaking AppleTV+ Original series - we now produce programmes for broadcasters and platforms all over the world.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
Key criteria:
* Experience of negotiating contracts and a strong understanding of copyright
* Business-oriented and commercial approach which enables a quick response to market changes
* Managing and/or delivering projects to deadlines
* Examine and summarise complex data
* An informed and broad interest in broadcasting and media as well as knowledge of current market intelligence and global media trends
* Business affairs experience in the television, radio and/or digital media industry would be an advantage
* Legal education or qualifications are not essential but would be an advantage

Salary: Up to £38,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Bristol – Bridgewater House
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working - minimum 2 days in the office
