Key Responsibilities As our Director of Transport Development and Capital Delivery, you will provide leadership to the Transport Development and Capital Delivery Team and the development and delivery of our exciting transport capital programme which includes tram renewals and future tram extensions, bus, rail and active travel infrastructure. You will deliver a portfolio of programmes and projects worth over £1bn to ensure our communities and businesses are connected to opportunities. You will pro-actively contribute to organisation planning, delivery and decision-making, along with advising the elected Metro Mayor and SYMCA local authorities, partners and key stakeholders. You will be a key advocate for SYMCA on a national stage, influencing senior government officials, and being a visible leader for the organisation and the region. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise We want to hear from you if you have a strong background in the successful delivery of large infrastructure schemes; with good knowledge of the transport sector; a practical understanding of HMT green book appraisal; and a proven track record of effective leadership, strategic thinking and change management, including supporting the empowerment of others to take ownership and accountability of outcomes. The role requires both first class strategic thinking and an understanding of the practical realities of infrastructure delivery and scheme development: you will turn transport strategy and priorities into deliverable and affordable schemes. With your proven ability of leadership at a senior level you will work in a collaborative manner with the Mayor, elected Members, with senior colleagues internally and in our partner local authorities, external partners, managing contractor relationships and other bodies that interact with this role. You will operate on a regional and national stage, influencing Government and key stakeholders.
