We are supporting the recruitment of a Junior Buyer to join the purchasing team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role with a salary of £26,000 per year. This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience in a purchasing environment and is looking to start a career as a Buyer.
Role Summary: The Junior Buyer will assist in the daily operations of the purchasing department, ensuring excellent service to both external and internal stakeholders. You will be managing your own suppliers and have the chance to excel and develop your skills to, over time, become a buyer on your own site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the purchasing team with various tasks.
2. Assist all departments with indirect purchasing, including supplier identification.
3. Raise and issue purchase orders.
4. Maintain and update purchasing records and databases.
5. Raise RFQs and negotiate prices.
6. Check order acknowledgements and report any delays.
7. Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
8. Collaborate with other departments for seamless communication and order fulfilment.
9. Support Goods Inwards and Purchase Ledger in resolving queries efficiently.
10. Undertake ad-hoc projects as agreed with the Purchasing Manager.
11. Run and analyse MRP purchasing reports, communicating any necessary changes.
Education and Experience:
1. Experience in a purchasing environment.
2. Proactive with the ability to use your own initiative.
3. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
6. Knowledge of Syspro & Sage systems is desirable.
7. Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
8. A great team player with enthusiasm for working in a high-performing team.
9. Adaptability and flexibility.
