Role: Design Engineer – Dimensional Survey Engineer Contract type: Permanent Location: Renfrew We are the leading provider of infrastructure services. Key Responsibilities: Conduct occasional site visits within the UK to carry out constructability reviews using dimensional measuring equipment and analyse survey findings. Interpret and process survey data using software such as VXElements, Cyclone, AutoCAD, and Inventor. Analyse and report on the findings of reviews and surveys, including interrogation of survey data provided by third parties. Generate 3D product design scopes for engineering solutions, including product development and design for manufacture. Perform engineering design using 3D CAD tools, including modelling, drawing production, file format conversions, and facilitation of design reviews. Evaluate supplier products and manage design risk assessments to ensure quality and compliance. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and analysis documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ensure designs align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company processes. Key Requirements: Degree (BSc/BEng) in Engineering, Science, or a relevant technical discipline is preferred but not essential if demonstrable experience can be evidenced. 5 years of experience in an engineering design role, preferably in laser scanning, surveying, or engineering design. Professional accreditation or training towards IEng/CEng (IMechE or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. Strong CAD proficiency—experience with Inventor and AutoCAD is preferred. Ability to interpret customer specifications to produce 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs. Familiarity with document numbering, revision control, and international design standards (e.g., ISO 128, BS 8888). Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to select appropriate materials and pre-made components. High computer literacy, with experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
