What you will be doing.
As our Yacht Surveyor, you will be involved in conducting surveying tasks and assisting in business delivery to provide sufficient surveyor coverage in the geographic area of responsibility. Undertaking your own chargeable time and assisting in maintaining and developing the business of ABL Yachts. You could be involved in all or some of the following:
1. Develop a thorough understanding of all business line services and their key deliverables.
2. Attend casualties, assessing the nature, extent, and cause of damages.
3. Estimate repair costs and prepare detailed reports for clients.
4. Engage in business development by promoting ABL Group's Engineering Consulting services to local and international clients.
5. Support marketing initiatives for the business line and its services.
6. Maintain a billable utilization rate of over 60%.
7. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
8. Ensure strict adherence to company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems, and regulations at all ABL premises, project sites, and client locations.
The role is based in London, although it is a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to working hours and travel to onsite attendance. The candidate must already have the right to live and work in the UK. We do not sponsor candidates for this role.

Required:
9. A qualified Chief Engineer or Master Mariner or equivalent with significant survey / consultancy-related experience and/or training.
10. Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
11. Demonstrate working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards.
12. Strong decision-making, technical, and analytical skills with a focus on operational excellence.
13. Delivers accurate, high-quality work on time with effective multitasking.
14. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
15. Assertive, proactive, and ethically grounded with a professional demeanour.
16. Highly organized, self-directed, and commercially savvy.
17. Outgoing, pragmatic, and a strong team player.
Any of the following are desirable but not essential:
18. Relevant short courses, such as paint inspector, are advantageous.
19. Experience as Chief Engineer or Captain, or in technical ship management.
20. Knowledge of marine insurance and admiralty law.
21. Proficient in vessel dry dockings, machinery damage, and repairs.
22. Experience of public speaking, authoring industry articles, and a professional network.
23. Membership of a professional body such as IMarEST or the Nautical Institute.
