About the Project:
We are seeking a skilled Design Manager to join a cutting-edge modular residential development in Birmingham. This exciting and innovative project involves delivering high-quality, sustainable modular apartments, setting a new standard for high-rise residential construction.
The Role:
As Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the design process, ensuring that designs are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with client specifications. Working closely with the project team, you will drive collaboration between stakeholders, consultants, and subcontractors to guarantee a seamless project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the full design process, from pre-construction through to handover.
2. Coordinate with external consultants, architects, and subcontractors to ensure design compliance.
3. Monitor design progress against project timelines and budgets, proactively resolving issues.
4. Review and validate design drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and quality.
5. Ensure designs align with modular construction principles, focusing on efficiency and buildability.
6. Conduct design risk reviews and ensure all works comply with building regulations, safety standards, and client requirements.
7. Collaborate with the project delivery team to address design changes or technical queries.
8. Lead design team meetings, liaise with stakeholders, and maintain clear communication throughout the process.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Previous experience as a Design Manager, ideally within modular construction or residential projects.
2. Strong understanding of modular and offsite construction processes, buildability, and design integration.
3. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
4. Proficient in design software and BIM coordination.
5. Knowledge of UK building regulations, planning processes, and compliance requirements.
6. A proactive problem-solver who can identify issues early and deliver effective solutions.
Qualifications:
1. Degree or equivalent in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
2. Membership with relevant professional bodies (e.g., CIOB, RIBA) is advantageous.
