----------------------------------- Main Areas of Responsibility
Your role will involve:
* Implementing and delivering a broad, balanced curriculum for students and supporting a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
* Maintaining and supporting the progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
* Fostering a learning experience providing students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
* Contributing to raising standards of student attainment.
* Sharing and supporting the academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Your main responsibilities will cover the following areas:
* Operational and strategic planning (including lesson planning, resource development, and departmental plan contribution).
* Curriculum planning.
* Staff development (including continuing professional development and Performance Management Review process engagement).
* Quality assurance (including monitoring and evaluating the subject area).
* Management of information (including maintaining records and tracking student progress).
* Communications with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
* Pastoral system (including form tutoring a selected group of students).
* Teaching, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students.
----------------------------------- Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
* QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
* Successful teaching experience at secondary level (can include teaching practice), ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and working in an 11-18 school.
* Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory and practice.
* Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and writing lesson plans, developing resources, and assessing students' work.
* Able to work as part of a team, develop positive relationships with staff, and communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies.
* Good ICT skills, including innovative use of interactive whiteboards.
* Able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
* Excellent time management and leadership skills.
