Both will require working across London Wildlife Trust sites, but one will be predominantly based at Gunnersbury Triangle (W4 5LN) and Crane Park Island (TW2 6AA), and the other predominantly based at Sydenham Hill Wood (SE26 6LS) and the Centre for Wildlife Gardening (SE15 4EE) - please note there are two application forms for the different bases. Role & Responsibilities As Learning Officer, you'll inspire children and families through outdoor education across London Wildlife Trust’s nature reserves. You'll deliver engaging, inclusive learning experiences focused on wildlife and urban nature conservation, while supporting the smooth running of our education and community programmes. Deliver curriculum-linked sessions for primary schools (EYFS, KS1 & KS2, including SEND), with a focus on local natural and industrial heritage. Support the development and planning of new lesson topics and family learning workshops, including some weekend delivery (up to three weekend days per month). Work with local communities to promote inclusive access to nature for children and families. Ensure all sessions follow safeguarding, health and safety policies, and maintain high standards of site presentation. Coordinate and manage learning resources and monitor programme budgets. Record and evaluate data, feedback, and contribute to funder reports. Support community events and wider Learning and Engagement team activities. Help manage visitor behaviour on site and act as duty manager when required. Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and work flexibly across sites as needed, including occasional lone working. Our ideal Learning Officer Demonstrable experience delivering engaging outdoor learning sessions for children. Strong knowledge and enthusiasm for UK wildlife, with the ability to confidently identify species and share this passion with diverse audiences. An understanding of the barriers to accessing nature, with a commitment to inclusive and accessible learning. A sound understanding of safeguarding and health and safety practices, with the ability to apply these in outdoor educational settings. Excellent organisational and admin skills, with the ability to manage resources within budgets.
