Summary
Are you a keen gardener, experienced groundsperson, or interested in giving it a go? Could you help us keep our centre grounds neat, tidy and sustainable?
Detailed description
We're looking for practical volunteers with a passion for both the outdoors and animals who can help us with various gardening and groundwork tasks such as weeding, pruning, keeping fencing tidy and clear of vegetation, leaf clearing, edging, lawn mowing, designing wildlife-friendly gardens and areas, and general maintenance of garden areas and borders.
You will also be helping with projects such as preparing, restoring, and enhancing habitats for wildlife rehabilitation such as our paddocks. Additionally, you could assist in preparing the grounds for open days, visits, and other events.
You don't need any previous knowledge or experience in gardening, just the desire to get stuck in and a willingness to help and get your hands dirty. You should be happy to work outdoors throughout the year (weather dependent!) and be available anytime between the hours of 8:30 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday, even just for a few hours each week.
If you want to keep active, make new friends, or use your skills to help others, this role might be perfect for you.
Before you start, you'll need to complete some online training courses (induction, health and safety, etc.), but this won't take too long and it is an easy process.
Our volunteer gardeners and groundspersons play an important role in keeping our animal and wildlife centre operational, safe, and looking spick and span, helping our teams to focus on looking after the animals in our care.
