Our customer is one of the most well-established Facilities & Maintenance Services organizations in the UK, delivering M&E maintenance across various commercial environments including corporate, critical services, retail, and real estate. They seek a multi-skilled shift leader with a strong mechanical engineering background for a long-standing site near Bond Street, Central London. The role involves planned and reactive maintenance of building services and HVAC systems, working on a “days only” pattern from 7 am to 7 pm, on a 4 on / 4 off split. The salary is approximately £46-48k basic, plus a £5k shift allowance, with additional pay for call-outs and overtime.
Candidates must be fully qualified in mechanical engineering / air conditioning, ideally through an apprenticeship, with at least five years of experience in commercial building services maintenance. Additional training such as F-Gas, L8 / Cooling Tower, or Mechanical AP status is advantageous. Responsibilities include:
* Maintaining communication with the Engineering Supervisor and Manager
* Attending all required training courses
* Issuing site permits in accordance with safety procedures
* Completing PPMs and reactive tasks, updating systems to meet contractual obligations
* Performing daily checks and reporting defects
* Managing M&E stock control
* Reporting accidents and near misses
* Supervising site handovers and housekeeping standards
* Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
* Recording statutory inspections accurately
* Being available for out-of-hours calls and on-call shifts, including public holidays
* Monitoring third-party contractors and quality of work
* Maintaining plant uptime and site cleanliness
* Conducting performance reviews and development discussions with team members
The role requires troubleshooting on various building systems, including BMS, air handling units, water chillers, fire systems, VESDA, pumps, motors, and electrical panels.
