Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum + package + bonus

Key Responsibilities:
As the Senior Estimator, you’ll be a pivotal player in the pre-construction team, responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates to help secure significant construction contracts. Your role will involve not only pricing projects but also developing winning strategies and influencing the entire bidding process. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Cost Analysis & Estimating: Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for a wide variety of construction projects, from residential and commercial buildings to large-scale civil engineering works. You will take ownership of project costings from initial concept through to tender submission.
* Tender Documentation: Manage and lead the preparation of comprehensive tender packages, including detailed breakdowns of labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor costs. Ensure that tenders comply with all client requirements and deadlines.
* Bill of Quantities & Pricing: Produce and analyse bills of quantities, prepare detailed cost reports, and manage the pricing of tenders to ensure a competitive and profitable submission.
* Feasibility Studies: Conduct in-depth feasibility assessments on potential projects to determine financial viability and identify risks or opportunities for cost-saving initiatives. Provide early-stage budget estimates and cash flow projections to support business decision-making.
* Risk Identification: Work closely with the project team to identify potential financial, operational, and contractual risks during the tendering stage. Propose mitigation strategies to minimise risk exposure for the business.
* Value Engineering: Lead value engineering exercises, identifying opportunities to reduce project costs while maintaining quality standards. Propose innovative solutions to increase project profitability and ensure client satisfaction.
* Procurement Support: Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and detailed quotations. Ensure all quotes are accurate and align with project specifications, contract conditions, and timelines.
* Supply Chain Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value and reliable delivery. Negotiate favourable terms while ensuring high-quality products and services.
* Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients and project stakeholders to understand their requirements, ensuring our tenders align with their expectations. Present cost estimates and tender packages to senior management, clients, and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
* Negotiation & Bid Strategy: Lead the negotiation of final contracts, ensuring all costs are well-managed and that profit margins are maximised without compromising on quality or client relationships.
* Tender Analysis: Conduct thorough post-tender reviews to analyse project outcomes, pricing strategies, and lessons learned. Use insights to improve future tender submissions and overall estimating processes.
* Handover to Project Teams: Facilitate a smooth handover of successful bids to the project management team, ensuring all necessary documentation, cost information, and contractual details are communicated clearly and effectively.
Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Senior Estimator with a passion for construction and a strong background in producing winning tenders. The ideal candidate will possess:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
* Professional membership with an accredited body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ICE) is highly desirable.
* Experience as a Senior Estimator within the construction industry, with proven experience leading the estimating process for large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
* A strong track record of delivering successful bids in a competitive tendering environment.
* In-depth knowledge of various construction methodologies, materials, labour markets, and subcontractor pricing.
