The SAP Custom Code Management Lead plays a pivotal role in overseeing the custom code lifecycle within S4 transformation program, ensuring high-quality, secure, and efficient custom developments. This role focuses Custom Code Remediation Specialist / SAP Technical Lead to lead our SAP S/4HANA transformation projects with a focus on custom code remediation, optimization, and security. The candidate will work with SmartShift's Vendor to streamline the migration and remediation of Custom ABAP code/Objects while ensuring best practices, performance optimization, and seamless integration within the SAP landscape. This role will also involve hands-on leadership in SAP development, custom code management, and cross-functional team collaboration to drive complex SAP projects to successful outcomes. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of SAP custom development, code analysis tools, and experience in leading teams to deliver high-quality solutions. This role requires close collaboration with Systems Integrators (SI) and other internal and external teams to ensure seamless code management and testing processes. How you will contribute Custom Code Analysis & Remediation: - Oversee the execution of custom code analysis using SmartShift, ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit), and SAP CIA (Change Impact Analysis). - Analyze the results of code scans, identify areas of concern, and prioritize remediation efforts. - Work with developers and consultants to interpret tool outputs and guide the resolution of code inefficiencies and potential issues. - Collaborate with the SI partner to ensure that custom code issues are remediated in a timely and effective manner. - Ensure the remediation aligns with SAP best practices and coding standards. - Provide ongoing technical expertise to guide the team through the remediation process. - Lead automation-based code transformations, ensuring performance optimization and adherence to SAP S/4HANA standards. - Ensure custom code is refactored to align with S/4HANA's technical architecture, including HANA database optimizations such as CDS views, and Fiori-based developments. Project Leadership & Delivery : - Drive and manage end-to-end SAP project lifecycles, including template design, deployment, enhancement, upgrades, and support work for SAP S/4HANA and associated integrations. - Provide thought leadership in SAP delivery, with hands-on experience in custom ABAP developments and S/4HANA programming. - Manage external vendors and third-party stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives Technical & Functional Expertise : - Leverage hands-on SAP ABAP programming skills, including ABAP Dictionary, Reports, SAP Scripts, Smart Forms, Adobe Forms, Dialog Programming, ALE/IDOCs, Enhancements, Object-Oriented ABAP, Module Pool Programming, CDS views, and ODATA. - Lead SAP S/4HANA implementations and migrations, ensuring compliance with SAP's latest technical and functional standards, including integration with middleware like BTP, MuleSoft, and IBM Sterling. - Collaborate closely with functional teams to ensure accurate remediation and development of custom code that aligns with business processes such as Finance, STP, OTC, Mfg and Sales. - Oversee custom code optimization to maximize performance in SAP S/4HANA environments, addressing issues related to deprecated functionality and future-proofing solutions. - Identify and mitigate risks, applying strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure project environment. - Manage code security and compliance using tools like Onapsis for vulnerability scanning and remediation. Methodology & Collaboration : - Apply Agile, DevSecOps methodologies to manage custom developments and promote continuous integration and delivery. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including QA, security, and business stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration for unit testing, integration, and performance testing. - Apply a customer-centric approach to communication and stakeholder management, influencing decisions and aligning teams around the project's objectives. - Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including remediation strategies, testing outcomes, and project reports. - Provide regular status updates to project managers and leadership, highlighting progress, potential risks, and recommendations for improvements. - Strong experience in risk management, problem-solving, and overcoming challenges in time-critical situations. What you will bring - Minimum of Total 15 years of experience in SAP ABAP and SAP project management and technical leadership across various project types such as template design, deployment, enhancement, upgrades, and support. - 10 years of SAP ABAP development experience, with at least 2 years of hands-on custom code remediation experience for SAP S/4HANA projects. - Proven experience in handling complex SAP landscapes, including integrations with middleware platforms (e.g., BTP, MuleSoft, Talend, IBM Sterling(B2B)), SaaS applications, and SAP bolt-ons. - Demonstrated experience with SAP S/4HANA, ECC, EWM, BW, TMS, MDG, S/4T, and PLM. Technical Skills: - Expert-level knowledge of SAP ABAP programming, including CDS views, AMDPs, Web Dynpro, BOPF, ODATA, Fiori, and S/4HANA development. - Exposure to ABAP unit testing, DevOps tools (Git, TDD, BDD), and experience in complex SAP environment management.
