Octavius is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Swindon or Bristol.
This position involves managing a portfolio of projects with an estimated annual value of £10 million under the Wales & Western Stations and Buildings Work Contract for Control Period 7 (CP7). The framework, spanning from 2024 to 2029, includes maintenance and renewals of canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks, and subways.
This is a hybrid role based in one of our offices and with travel to our sites across the region for 2 days per week on average.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial and contractual performance of a portfolio of schemes, ensuring successful project outcomes compliant with contractual terms and business plan commitments. Your key responsibilities will include:
Overseeing project financial performance, ensuring profit targets and efficiency savings are achieved.
Administering change control processes and adhering to contractual timescales.
Identifying and managing risks and opportunities effectively.
Delivering compliant procurement processes and managing the supply chain.
Handling commercial queries and advising on legal matters, including disputes.
Conducting internal and external audits as required.
Managing subcontracts, including preparation and negotiation of claims and payments.
Monitoring project progress, conducting site visits, and maintaining financial logs and forecasts.
Preparing and attending monthly cost review meetings, identifying variations and actions.
Ensuring compliance with Octavius' and clients' assurance processes and legislative requirements.
Managing or mentoring team members.
Building strong relationships with project teams, clients, and suppliers, fostering a culture of professionalism and collaboration.

Extensive success in a Quantity Surveying role, working on multiple projects simultaneously.
NEC Contract Experience, ideally NEC4.
Demonstrable experience of coaching, mentoring, and/or managing people.
Experience in a civil engineering environment is an advantage.
