You will play a vital role in defining and executing programme material strategies, ensuring supply chain resilience, cost efficiency, and supplier performance. This role requires a strategic thinker and problem-solver, skilled in conducting Make vs. Buy assessments, developing sourcing strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, and driving business growth. You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and suppliers to influence sourcing decisions, resolve challenges, and support programme execution in a fast-paced, high-tech defence manufacturing environment. Main Duties Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management - Lead or support cross-functional teams in Make vs. Buy exercises and developing commodity strategies for direct and indirect spend. - Align commodity strategies with market conditions, Raytheon goals, and growth plans while managing risk, service levels, and supplier selection. - Leverage commodity opportunities and synergies across RTX. - Develop and manage tenders, perform cost and price analysis, and lead negotiations to achieve value-for-money procurement outcomes. - Creates and manages commodity agreements and ensures compliance with customer requirements, government regulations, and company policies. Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with functional leaders and senior management to define supplier bid and selection criteria. - Lead or participate in supplier assessments, development initiatives, and due diligence activities. - Establish and manage supplier relationships, driving continuous improvement and strategic partnerships to meet performance KPIs. - Support supplier risk and opportunity management, monitoring supplier performance, metrics, and contract compliance. Project & Programme Support - Work with stakeholders to ensure commodity strategies align with engineering, affordability, manufacturability, and producibility. - Provide Direct Commodities support for programme lifecycle management. - Support financial management of material targets and forecasts in collaboration with MPM and IPT. - Utilise project management techniques to mitigate supply chain risks and drive improvements. Leadership & Representation - Act as the voice of Direct Commodities, liaising across functions, businesses, and leadership teams. - Represent the function in corporate initiatives, promoting procurements role in achieving organisational objectives. - Champion sustainable and responsible procurement, integrating social, cultural, and diversity values. - Serve as a CPR representative when required and deputises for the Senior Manager. - Lead CORE initiatives for supplier development and process improvement. Candidate requirements: Procurement & Sourcing Expertise - Proven experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement, ideally within a manufacturing or defence environment. - Strong knowledge of Make vs. Buy analysis, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management. - Experience in cost and price analysis, with a track record of driving cost savings and supplier efficiencies. Defence & Regulatory Knowledge - Understanding of UK defence procurement regulations and compliance (e.g., DEFCONs, ITAR, FAR/DFARS). - Experience working with government contracts and regulated supply chains. - Ability to manage sensitive or classified procurement activities in line with industry regulations. Supplier & Stakeholder Management - Strong ability to build and manage strategic supplier relationships, ensuring high performance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. - Experience leading supplier assessments, due diligence, and performance management. - Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, programme management, and senior leadership. Manufacturing & Supply Chain Acumen - Familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain operations in a high-tech, complex industry. - Experience aligning sourcing decisions with affordability, manufacturability, and producibility requirements. - Ability to identify and mitigate supply chain risks that could impact production schedules. Project & Financial Management - Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Experience in financial planning for material costs, forecasts, and budget management. - Commercial awareness and ability to develop business cases for procurement decisions. Leadership & Communication - Excellent leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills. - Strong problem-solving ability, with a proactive and strategic mindset. - Effective communicator, able to engage with senior leadership, suppliers, and internal teams. - Experience deputising for senior managers and representing procurement in corporate meetings. Desirable Skills & Experience: - CIPS qualification or equivalent in procurement and supply chain management. - Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data analytics for procurement decision-making. - Background in aerospace, defence, or high-tech manufacturing sectors. - Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
