The Registered Nurse will provide competent, age-appropriate care by applying clinical nursing knowledge and skills in a fast-paced environment. The RN will ensure the safety and comfort of patients and their families according to this facility's professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment & Care: Conduct thorough assessments, identify patient needs, and create customized care plans. Continuously evaluate and adjust care based on patient and family feedback.
2. Documentation & Communication: Accurately document care and treatments in a timely manner, ensuring detailed, clear records in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR). Communicate effectively with team members to support collaborative care.
3. Environment Management: Prepare patient rooms, maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure that all equipment is appropriately sanitized and stored.
4. Medication & Treatment Administration: Administer medications following the "5 Rights of Medication" (patient, drug, dose, route, and time), perform phlebotomy and IV insertions, and collect lab samples safely and efficiently.
5. Patient Education & Support: Provide patients and families with education on treatment plans, medication, and equipment use, fostering a supportive care experience.
6. Leadership & Team Support: Monitor patient flow, prioritize high-risk patients, and support Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) with questions and guidance. Assist other clinical staff as needed.
7. Facility Operations: Participate in opening and closing procedures, manage inventory, and support weekly equipment maintenance.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
1. Must be physically present in the clinic for all duties, including patient care, CPR, and emergency procedures.
2. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform moderate to heavy physical effort, and be adaptable to standing, walking, and assisting patients for extended periods.
3. Must have sufficient sensory acuity (vision, hearing, touch) for patient assessment, equipment monitoring, and emergency response.
4. Flexible with evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as necessary to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
1. Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
2. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
3. Compassionate and skilled in providing patient-centered care, especially in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
1. Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program
2. Licensure: Current valid state license to practice nursing in Virginia
3. Certifications: BLS and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
4. Experience: Minimum one year in pediatric nursing; experience in Emergency/Urgent Care is highly preferred
Hours of Operation:
Monday-Thursday: 1 PM-9 PM
Friday: 1 PM-8 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 10 AM-8 PM
