We have an opportunity based in Maidenhead working for the Credit Underwriting and Risk team in a reputable and well respected organisation offering excellent career development opportunities.
This role will be a key member of the growing credit underwriting and risk team supporting the rapidly growing and dynamic business. You will work closely with the finance and sales teams as well as external stakeholders, insurance brokers and customers alike, to maintain credit risk controls within an existing framework and provide a unique service to their customers.
As a Credit Underwriter, you will be responsible for:
1. Delivering timely credit decisions within stated credit parameters and own underwriting authority. Provide commercially balanced recommendations, balancing risk whilst driving business and supporting customer requirements.
2. Make recommendations with supporting substantiated rationale on deals outside of own personal credit underwriting mandate.
3. Assist with the day-to-day credit management and decision-making process.
4. Work with other areas of the Business to ensure correct lending decisions and fair outcomes for customers.
5. Delivering operational effectiveness and excellence within the business area, achieving KPI targets and objectives set by the business.
Experience Required:
6. A highly numerate and motivated individual with a minimum of 12 months experience in a credit underwriting role.
7. Proven analytical skills with ability to document findings and make recommendations.
8. Strength of character to stand by decisions and explain to those less familiar with credit risk.
9. Demonstrable ability to think around a subject, considering risk implications of the current policies and procedure.
10. Ability to take calculated risks with favourable outcomes.
