GSK’s flagship manufacturing site at Ware we have a vacancy for a Production Technical Operator in the Packing function of our Respiratory manufacturing division.
The Technical Operator teams run the organisation's packing lines for all respiratory devices manufactured at the Ware PSC site. Within their teams, the Packing Operator role is responsible for the set up and running of multiple packing lines where pre- assembled devices are packaged to a quality standard resulting in a pack containing device, labels, leaflets, cartons, trays etc. Product is manufactured ready for onward dispatch from warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
* To set up batches (booking materials on to computer systems, physically bringing the materials onto line, and setting up batch information on SeaVision system etc.), checking all details against batch documentation.
* To operate various Packing lines, monitoring reject levels and responding to machine stoppages (identifying and correcting issues where possible and escalating to Engineering Technical Operator (ETO)/Technician where not);
* Replenishing components (devices, labels, leaflets and cartons etc.) to ensure continuous production is maintained.
* To carry out routine In-Process Checks (IPCs) during batch manufacture, and where results fall out of specifications escalate to ETO/ Technician in accordance with SOPs and batch documentation.
* To perform all daily and weekly checks and critical device checks to ensure the Packing machines and ancillary equipment operate within specification to ensure consistent quality of packaged devices.
* To complete all batch documentation in an accurate and timely manner including use of company Information Technology (IT) systems (including the ‘Systems Applications & Products / Manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning Solution’ [M-ERP/M-ERP], Activplant, eBRS etc); to perform line clearance at the end of each batch to prevent cross contamination of the subsequent batch; to check all documentation is completed accurately.
* To order components from the warehouse to ensure adequate supplies are maintained, using the appropriate IT system; also dispatch finished packed devices to the warehouse.
* Material movements which will involve moving pallets of material and packed devices within the packing area and loading/un-loading materials from the conveyor handling system. All movements will be carried out using either a hand operated or electric pallet truck.
* To carry out all cleaning activities specified in area SOPs and SWI.
* To have the skills to carry out offline activities, including batch preparation
* To take on additional roles within the department as agreed with the operator’s manager and in accordance with the area Team Plan. The roles in Packing department are: Author/Content Owner (SOP and/or Standard Work Instruction); QMS Reviewer; Safety Assessor (Noise, Manual Handling, Ergonomic, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health [COSHH]).
SHIFT Pattern: This role will operate on the DANF – 24/5 Days & Nights “Full” (12-hour) shift pattern. This entails 2 or 3 shifts on (followed by 2 to 4 days off, depending on shift rota), and includes working night shifts.
About Ware Manufacturing Site:
We are co-located with our R&D colleagues and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art oral solid dose facility at Ware. At this location our scientists, technicians and engineers (from R&D and Global Supply Chain – GSC) work collaboratively together (using the latest technologies) to rapidly knowledge transfer and deliver GSK’s most innovative, medicines faster and more efficiently. On site we produce over 60 million respiratory inhalers each year with growing demand in future years. The site also processes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for use both on site and other manufacturing sites in our network.

Basic Qualifications:
* Relevant manufacturing experience / qualifications.
* Previous experience in Packing of Respiratory devices (eg; Trained in the packaging process)
* Awareness of serialisation.
* Knowledge of complex processes such as Batch Prep, Batch Set up and end of batch processes is preferred.
* GCSE Mathematics & English or equivalent.
* Basic computer literacy.
