Clinical Support Worker/ Clinical Support Worker Higher Level (Ward 4)

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and committed individual to join Ward 4 at The James Cook University Hospital. We are a 24 bedded, specialist medical ward caring for renal patients, including those with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, renal transplant patients, and various patients with long-term health conditions.
Two positions are available: one part-time (30 hours) and one full-time (37.5 hours).
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements: willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements:
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
* Care certificate
* Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties
* Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3, including theoretical knowledge, experience of a range of care and related procedures, clinical observations, and knowledge of relevant legislation.
There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3, which includes completion of the qualifications.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Respect and acknowledge professional skills and boundaries, taking opportunities to develop personal knowledge base to contribute to effective teamwork.
* Actively participate in care provision as part of the MDT and work with other stakeholders to assist patients/service users to regain their health and independence.
* Provide assistance with all aspects of personal hygiene and continence needs that the patient/service user may require.
* Deliver clinical and/or therapeutic interventions and undertake observations or health promotional activities as delegated and directed by the registered professional, reporting patients' progress, status, changes, or concerns accordingly.
* Keep accurate and timely records of care, updating electronic or paper-based systems accordingly.
* Liaise with patients/service users, family, carers, colleagues, and other professionals to ensure integrated quality care is provided.
* Act as an advocate for the patient, respecting patients' wishes, dignity, and beliefs.

This training programme has been designed to support our staff in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the following training sessions: Service Improvement for Beginners. After completing these one and a half days of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills (Both)
* Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective teamwork.
* Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality.
* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
* Working knowledge of STHFT policies and procedures.
Qualifications (B3)
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
* Care certificate
* Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3, including theoretical knowledge, experience of a range of care and related procedures, clinical observations, and knowledge of relevant legislation.
Experience (B3)
* Experience of working in health or social care.
* Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.
* Experience of working in an NHS care role.
