Applications for a Adult Intensive Care Transfer - Senior Clinical Fellow
We are looking for experienced intensive care doctors (ST5 level and above) who are interested in completing a fellowship year in Adult Critical Care Transfer Medicine. You will work as a member of the East Midlands Adult Critical Care Transfer Service (ACCOTS) with the potential for some time allocated to the paediatric retrieval and ECMO service, depending on your interests. This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the UK's most developed critical care transfer services. You will become a key member of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team providing adult critical care transfers and will gain valuable experience.
Main Duties of the Job
* Logistics and transfer of critically ill patients between critical care units and for emergency escalation to tertiary referral centres.
* Time to develop clinical and non-clinical skills working in frequently changing teams.
* Opportunity and support for national presentations of audit/data/research.
* Option to see Air and Road Transport of patients with Severe Respiratory Failure including mobile ECMO.
* Option to join the paediatric team to understand the paediatric retrieval service.
* Opportunity to participate and develop critical care transfer training including simulation in our brand new simulation suite.
* Opportunity to develop management skills, developing governance for the service.
Job Responsibilities
Time will be allocated for non-clinical duties to allow the successful applicant to take part in additional activities. This fellowship post is suitable for ICM trainees from all disciplines. Posts are also suitable for single or dual/triple specialty trainees (ICM, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Acute Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Renal Medicine) wishing to pursue an Out of Programme Activity (OOPT or OOPE).
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious individual to further develop key critical care medicine skills in the provision of advanced skills in transport of the critically ill adult.
Person Specification
Training and Experience
* Full GMC registration
* Completion of stage 1 ICM training or overseas equivalent (at least 12 months)
* ALS
* Completion of stage 2 and/or 3 ICM training or international equivalent
* FFICM
* Prior experience in transfer of the critically ill, completion of a transfer training course
Teaching
* Evidence of teaching at an undergraduate or postgraduate level
* Certification Course/Diploma/Masters in Medical Education
Research
* Understanding of research methodology
* Medical publications or a background of research activity
Management
* Understanding of the NHS, its strategy and current issues
* Management training
* Clear, fluent and articulate in verbal and written presentation
