As a Press Officer you will:
· Support the my office & objectives through highly effective communication and social media presence
· Establish & develop appropriate strategies around social media & online presence in the constituency
· Design & develop engaging, targeted content & messages across a range of channels
· Monitor media coverage, liaise with media, prepare press releases & media briefings as required
· Analyse & evaluate the impact of external communications activity ensuring I am informed on key issues & is aware of trends
· Research local, regional or national issues to support my work
· Assist with surgeries & other meetings and follow up as appropriate
· There will be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours
Essential Criteria:
- Ability to build relationships with media & stakeholders
- Highly proficient on social media communications
- Effective digital design skills; proficiency in digital communication tools, platforms & desktop publishing packages
- Ability to create & execute a multi-week, multi-channel communications plan
- Excellent written communication skills
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
