Growing @ field 28 is a 6 acre farm set in Daresbury Cheshire. We grow a range of vegetables, microherbs (indoors) and flowers for use within our small farm shop, two associated restaurants and for delivery to a few exceptional restaurants around the country.
We have an ethos based on sustainability and a desire to improve our soil season on season. We look to grow produce for flavour and quality rather than yield. Whilst we are not certified organic, pesticides and biocides are not used on site and our focus is on growing without harming our environment.
Our small team is currently five strong with one of our growers leaving to return home in the coming weeks and a wish to expand our operation. We are looking to recruit an experienced senior grower to manage the vegetable growing side of our farm.
You must possess great communication skills as you will work alongside the other members of our team daily to ensure the quality of the produce we grow. Previous experience of small-scale vegetable growing is essential along with the ability to handle equipment such as a walking tractor.
As well as taking day to day control of general crop management tasks and harvesting schedules, you will, along with our current lead grower, take a leading role in creating the annual crop schemes and in the longer-term development of the site in general.
Alongside a senior role in the team, we are looking for an assistant grower to carry out daily growing tasks under the direction of the senior grower. Both roles are permanent year-round positions with a competitive salary attached along with the benefits of working with a really nice group of people in a lovely setting.
Please apply in the first instance by dropping me an email on kevindobbs@field28.com, detailing a little bit about yourself and your growing experience to date. Please include your contact details so that we can call you to follow up on your interest. Looking forward to hearing from you.
