This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Pre-sessional English team, working in collaboration with the Pre-sessional Academic Director and the International Pathways Manager, to lead on both the development and delivery of Lancaster’s Pre-sessional English and Study Start programmes.
The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure that academic standards are maintained, and the PSE programmes are delivered effectively. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of the PSEs, leading tutors, and providing input for course development and evaluation. The Academic & Exams Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that teaching and learning is of the highest quality and that all students receive the best possible education. They will also be responsible for the design, production, and delivery of the PSE English language assessments both in person and online, using digital platforms. In addition, they will be involved in the recruitment and selection of temporary academic coordinators and tutors, as well as providing feedback and support.
Applicants should have TESOL/CELTA qualifications with recent experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes in a variety of international settings. Post graduate teaching qualifications (MA TESOL or DELTA) are essential. Candidates will be expected to have in-depth knowledge of English language testing and have experience of designing and administering English language exams. The candidate should also have coordination or management experience, along with experience of teaching international students, working in both large and small group settings. Proficiency in the use of interactive teaching and assessment technologies is also essential.
