Job overview
A part time position has arisen for a Specialist Physiotherapist with an interest in Stroke and General Rehabilitation to join our enthusiastic multidisciplinary team at Edgware Community Hospital on Edgware Community Rehabilitation Unit (ECRU).
ECRU has 20 beds with 14 designated beds for stroke patient care and 6 beds open to general rehabilitation. It is a beautiful setting with magnificent potential to enable top quality patient and staff experience.
We are looking for a Band 6 physiotherapist who has the passion for excellence in patient care and experience within rehabilitation (stroke and general) as well as the core areas of a band 5.
We would like to attract applicants with high levels of communication and a flexible approach to problem solving. You will be expected to be professional, efficient in time and people management and effective in your approach. Working days may include weekends.
You will work collaboratively with the therapy team leads and other highly skilled therapy staff to achieve excellence.
You will be responsible for assisting in education and management of junior staff and students with senior support.
You will have the opportunity to influence the delivery of our service through service evaluation and audits and have access to training opportunities and are encouraged to take up postgraduate education in your field of speciality.
Main duties of the job
1. To be an active member of the clinical team, providing a comprehensive therapy service to residents of Barnet referred into the service.
2. To work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including assessing and treating own caseload of patients/clients and maintaining professional documentation.
3. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate positive rehab outcomes and timely, coordinated discharge planning.
4. To fully support initiatives to reduce length of stay, including key working.
5. To work flexibly, being willing to provide support on other intermediate care wards when necessary.
6. To hold responsibility for own caseload, working with and without direct supervision.
7. Be responsible for the supervision of junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and Physiotherapy students.
8. Support self and service development through active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and by participating in any audit or research being undertaken by the service.

Person specification
Education/Qualification
* Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Evidence of up to date CPD portfolio.
* Involvement in Appraisal Scheme.
* Attendance at specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Older People Rehabilitation.
* Member of Professional Body (CSP).
* Member of a Special Interest Group relevant to this post e.g. ACPIN.
Experience
* Experience post registration as a Band 5 physiotherapist.
* Experience working at a Junior level in a wide range of specialised clinical areas including outpatients, neurology, rehabilitation, orthopedics and respiratory.
* Experience working in neuro/stroke rehab.
* Experience working in the NHS.
* Experience working with voluntary organisations.
* Experience in falls prevention.
* Experience working as a Band 6 physiotherapist.
Skills & Knowledge
* Skills in the assessment and treatment of adults with stroke and other neurological conditions.
* Skills in the assessment and treatment of adults with complex multi-pathologies.
* Knowledge and understanding of complex medical conditions including multipathologies and falls.
* Knowledge of role of Allied Health Professionals and interdisciplinary team working.
* Ability to apply core Physiotherapy skills across a range of clinical conditions within a client centered, goal setting.
* Knowledge of outcome measures and evidence-based practice associated with physiotherapy.
* Basic IT skills – Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel.
* Teaching of junior staff / students, peers in In-service training setting.
* Knowledge and understanding of National Service Framework for Older People.
* Knowledge and understanding of NICE and CSP/COT Fallers Guidelines.
* Supervision of assistant / junior staff.
* Supervision of Students.
* Knowledge and experience in research and audit.
